Guru Da Langar
Bangla sahib is one of the most prominent gurdwaras in Delhi.
The gurdwara is known for its association with eight Sikh Guru Shri Har
krishan. The concept of langar is an age old system founded by Sikh gurus where
all the people regardless of race or religion may eat in gurdwara
kitchen/langar hall.
The langar here caters to more than 10,000 people daily
and approximately 200 people are served in duration of every 15 minutes. The
langar sewa starts as early as 5:30a.m and remains till 11:30p.m whereas the kitchen
works goes on all night too.
The langar is prepared by assigned people as well as volunteers.
The cooking material is provided by volunteers, donators as well as management.
The management inside kitchen and outside is commendable and everything is done
without chaos. The langar usually comprises of lentils called “daala”, chapatti
called “parshaada”, some vegetable or sometimes Kheer too.
Since langar is considered to be holy, we always cover
our head while having it and shoes are kept outside hall. The ultra-modern chapatti
machinery aids at cooking 100 chapattis in less than 5 minutes. If you are
visiting this place for first time, you’ll be amazed to see the management. There’s
unsaid following of things like washing of dishes or serving to people by all
ages.one must visit and be a part of this heavenly experience.
