KAKE DA HOTEL

Kake Da Hotel

Kake da hotel is centrally located in posh area of Connaught place. The restaurant enjoys customer loyalty since 1939 made from pure desi ghee the dishes served here are absolutely lip smacking. i have been visiting this place since childhood. My recent visit was just 2 days back with my cousin. The place rotates nearly 50 customers in half hour and has a limited menu the 6-7 waiters keep themselves on toes to serve each and every table promptly. I love the Dhaba culture because of its freshness and quick service. They have a limited stuff and it gets sold out when people wait in endless queues.

Don’t be mistaken by their cutlery or serving style. Welcome to whole new world where your taste buds are on a taste drive. The options include Dahi-meat and Mutton Curry and Tandoori Chicken where you cannot ever go wrong. The butter naans served here are fresh, hot and crisp. The meal is gulped within no time with extra helpings of gravy they offer when you are finished.

The paan is something which can mark a perfect end to this wonderful lunch or dinner. We found this spot just a road across. We had a famous Chuski Chocolate Pan which was almost frozen and ice and flavored syrups exploded in our mouth. The words are short to describe this wonderful paan creation.

Hope to make you all aware of more of such food experiences in future!

STREETS OF KASHMIR

Walk On The Streets Of Kashmir
The people of Kashmir are known for their hospitality and food cuture. The majority of people are Hindus while the valley has majority of Muslims. The people are simple and smiling. I walked around the streets of Dal Lake and noticed small tea shops around. Unlike metropolitans, they serve you a portion of what they have without you ordering, along with tea in a very respectable manner.

Their humble way of portraying their gesture was when they saw me walking till hotel premises they walked at a distance and made sure that I reached there safely.

We can find a nice aroma filling up the air at local bakery shops and you can find some amazing breads like sheermal, baqerkhani or meetha kulchas. Freshly made and aromatic these are mostly eaten as breakfast or with tea or their favourite kehwa.

The noon chai/gulabi chai is traditional tea beverage from Kashmir.it is a salty preparation made from special tea leaves, pistachios, almonds and is had during winter season or weddings there.

The rich heritage of Kashmir or the Kashmiri people can’t be explained in few words here. But each time I recall my strolls over there and the warmness of people I feel rejunevated. With the food as medium I would like you all to think and pause for a moment when you see a Kashmiri shawl dweller around in area and some neighborhood aunty whispers in your ears that he’s is going to fool us all. May we open our senses and admire the richness offered there. I hope to extend this further with more food and variety.

CANNAUGHT PLACE FOOD WALK

Namaste India By European
(CANNAUGHT PLACE FOOD WALK)

It was supposed to be a normal Sunday and specially after the boring festival of Holi. But one of my very close friend called me up & asked me to if I can join him to C.P (the heart of our city), to accompany him for his some his International friends, helping them to buy some of the Indian stuffs includes sari & some souvenirs for their friends and family back home. I didn’t have any plan for the day so I said Ok I will join you and I think I took the right decision.

The moment I came out from the Metro station I met them there were 3 girls 2 Europeans & 1 were from Nagaland. They were so very excited to buy sari (the Indian ethnic dress). So we begin our journey from Pallika bazaar (the asia’s one of the biggest underground air conditioned market), in the search of a saari. After almost exploring all the shops able to find that particular color sari, what she was looking for.

Now after a walk in search of sari & souvenirs, it was the time to have a lunch. They requested me to take a place where they can enjoy their lunch without any spices but it should be from Delhi also, being a foodie now it was a challenge for me to find the right place for them but at the right moment which hit my mind was to take them to Nizam’s Kathi Kabab. Here they not only get the taste of Delhi’s Muglai food but that too without any extra spices.

I ordered Nizami Kali Dal, Laqmi Paratha , Double Mutton Double Egg Roll and Mutton Biryani  with fear in mind they tried & start loving it and not only they finished their meal so fast they jump into my roll to taste and find it so tasty that they can’t stop themselves for another one , earlier they thought it will be spicy but I can see the smile on their faces when they were so happily enjoying their meal.

After their happy meal, it was the time to take them for an Indian dessert , and what it can be the best with Paan the Indian sweet desert so we went to have Meetha Chocolate Chuski Paan What amazing and exciting about this shop is, the owner not only makes paan with all his heart but also feed you right into your mouth. In case if you shocked to read, yes read it again, he will not handover you the packed paan, like the rest of the shops in India, rather he feed you from his own hand this paan straight to your mouth.

Now the tummy is full, but I was thinking something is still missing & how can I forget the keventers when I am in CP, so the next place which I took them to was Keventers for the very famous flavored Milk Shake we ordered for vanilla & strawberry flavors. And now was the time to say those new friends good bye & wishing them a safe journey for back to their country & with a memory picture in front of giant Indian flag we said good bye, & hope to see you in your country someday & if now in heaven for sure.

Amazing experience, Hospitality, local guide, good barging, & the most important the whole journey to compress in one word is
“Atithi Devo Bhava”
